SKY TV FOR YACHTS IN SPAIN
We have just installed a satellite TV system at an amazing home in Valencia Spain that required 5 satellite dishes and 12 satellite TV receivers. The Villa that is owned by a famous football star that had recently purchased the property as a weekend retreat contacted us last month to make a survey. Located just 20 minutes from Valencia City centre the property boasts 2 swimming pools 7 bedrooms and two guest bungalows.
This soccer star had a passion for Italian Sports cars and whilst carrying out the survey his cousin showed us the three Ferrari Sports cars parked in the garage under the property.
After completing our survey and submitting our quotation we received the OK from the client to go ahead with the installation.
Our first task was to create a concrete foundation at the rear of the property behind the pool house so that none of the dishes can be seen. After digging our foundation we started mixing concrete until our foundation was complete. We then dug a trench from the side of the pool house all the way to the laundry room at the back of the house. We used a tough flexible tube that allowed us to run 12 cables from the dish in to the property.

The communications room was jam packed with servers and state of the art telecommunications systems and the alarms and temperature control systems. When the property was built the builders had left plenty of tubes that allowed various cable to be piped around the property from five main panels around the property and they even left pull strings in the tubes to make it easier pulling cables through the tubes.
After digging the trench and laying the tubing we broke for lunch and then started on running all the cabling.

The Home cinema was based on the lower floor next to the garage, I have to admit to spending a while admiring the three Ferraris again whilst we where measuring out the cables on the garage floor that can house up to 12 cars.

Running the cables from the home cinema room to the main communications room on the floor above was straight forward. By 7pm we had installed and mounted the 108" LED TV on the wall, set up the surround sound system and using one of the DVD players we had a sound check, it was whilst we where testing the speakers (rather loudly) that our client appeared with a massive grin on his face.
We got finished setting up the surround sound at around 9pm and headed for the local Hotel for some dinner and an early night leaving our client watching the movie Alien in his new Home Cinema enjoying a cold beer from the built in bar at the back of the room.

With the Home Cinema room now all wired up and just awaiting the various satellite feeds we started running the cables from the comms room to the various guest bedrooms. We then started installing varying sized LED Tv's in the bedrooms using wall brackets. The master suite included a brushed chrome LED TV that sat at the foot of the 5 seater bath tub that proved rather fiddly to get working as the instructions where all in Italian, we eventually got to grips with it after one of the Italian kitchen fitters kindly assisted with some translating for us. Moving away from the main house we got started digging two 150 metre trenches to run cables from our concrete foundation where the dishes will be situated all the way down to both of the guest bunbgalows. We got finished at around 10pm digging the last trench promising ourselves that next time we would rent a small JCB for the day!

Bang on time, our delivery arrived at 9am with two 2.4 dishes and a 1.9 dish with two 1.45 dishes. After allowing 3 days for our concrete foundation to dry we where able to start mounting the dishes on our concrete floor that we had constructed behind the pool house. We used 2 x special extra large concrete blocks that are 1M long and take two people to carry on the 2.4 dishes once in position we then covered them in concrete up to the lip of the blocks to allow drainage.

To help us with building the satellite dishes we drafted in two additional engineers to lend a hand for the day as the big 2.4 dishes are very big and ideally require a person each side of the dish and one behind to attach the nuts on to the bolts. Just after 2pm we had all four dishes constructed and in position so we decided to pop down the road to a small restaurant that we had found that provided a fantastic menu del dia for just €8 per person.
After lunch we started to tune in the dishes whilst whilst our head end specialist started to install the splitter system in the comms room that had a total of 62 outputs! 16 outputs where immediately required for the SKY+HD boxes from the splitter so that all of the SKY+HD Boxes would be able to record one channel whilst watching another.

By 8pm we where sat in the Cinema room (shoes off as the new carpet had just been fitted) sat on the floor watching SKY SPORTS 1 HD the picture and sound was awesome, we had supplied optical out cable so that the sound quality coming through the JBL cinema surround sound was amazing. Our clients cousin appeared with a load of cold beers and chicken wings that had just come off the barbecue that where the best we had ever tasted, whilst we watched the football. At 9pm our client arrived and was also impressed with the picture and sound quality, he took a lot of interest in how everything was connected and how he could adjust the audio levels, we had also added a ipod dock at the clients request so we spent a while making sure that this was also working.

With all of the televisions installed and and magic eyes in place all of the satellite boxes where nicely installed in the comms room and all cables neatly cable tied we just needed to ensure that picture quality was perfect on every television on the property including; TV in Home Cinema, TV in Garage, TV in Master suite, TV in Master Bath, TV in Living room, TV in guest suites 1 & 2, TV in Guest Bungalows 1 & 2, TV in staff room, TV in Kitchen. After completing our final survey everything was working as required and client accompanied us on a walk through to view all of the system working.
As much as we would love to mention the clients name we are not allowed, although he did allow us to take a couple of photos.
